What better way to engage local BSA AA and their families than to invite them to enjoy all the adventures and fun of your Council’s camp program! Most BSA AA have great memories of their camp experiences and would welcome the opportunity to return to a “scout camp” to share similar experiences with their whole family.
Every Council BSA AA Chapter should offer an Alumni Family Camp (AFC) experience to members living in their Council area. Here are a few of the anticipated advantages to such a program:
-
Add additional occupancy to camps during non-peak periods. Consider “short term” sessions.
-
Assure longer employment for camp and kitchen staffs due to increased camp bookings.
-
Family Rate packaging can help to raise average camper fees.
-
Recruitment. Young family members may want to join after a “Scout Camp” experience.
-
Fellowship, scout spirit and fun are keys to alumni participation and retention. Time at an AFC will provide those attributes and renew the many legacies of Scouting.
-
For the first time, the entire Council’s Scouting Family (all the volunteers) can enjoy the camp for themselves along with their family members. This is a way for your Council to give back to the adults that do so much to make your Council succeed and grow.
Family camping is a timeless outdoor experience that involves Cub Scouting, Scouts BSA or Venturing program elements with an overnight adventure. The activities offered at Scout Camps are unique and not often available to campers. What’s more, today’s campers and leisure travelers are seeking one of a kind outdoor experiences for themselves and families. “Scout Camp” via a Council’s BSA AA Family Camp session is perfectly positioned to capitalize upon the interests of today’s outdoor enthusiasts.
Council Alumni Chapter Family Camps will comply with the BSA’s NCAP requirements and short-term sessions will meet the new NCAP short term camp qualifications.
